Synopsis:

Synopsis: Jing'an District is the center of Shanghai . The buildings of the area are becoming higher and higher along with the disappearing of the old town. The people who gown up in the alleys or Shikumen are now in the new luxurious apartments. The iron gates separate the neighborhoods by the cat eye. Every culture has its value and we can't step over the epoch talking the “privacy”. We used to play in the alley with other children while nowadays the youth are building a large friendship by internet. But the feeling of friendship should be perceived by face to face. <Homesickness> offers a personal retrospect to old town of Jing'an . The film follows the transition of Shikumen culture which began in 1920s.

Biography of Haolun Shu:

Graduated from East China University of Science and Technology and then he went to USA for a further study for film making. He directed an awarded film named <Struggle> independently in school time. Now he lives in shanghai and established a studio called Film Sprit Studio. He teaches documentaries in Shanghai University simultaneously. <Homesickness> is his second documentary.
