Film status:
Wellspring: A peasant couple gave birth to a boy, but brain disease changed him and his family's life when he was only a baby. Although life is already very harsh, and they must shoulder this burden alone, they never lose hope and never despair of finding a doctor able to help him. When the boy falls ill, they make impossible efforts to cure him, or at the very least lessen his suffering. With the boy's life in danger, the parents are ready to confront all odds together with the child, and this boundless love maintains his life throughout.

The Elders: For Tibetans, old age is a time to be dedicated to prayer and preparation for reincarnation, with worldly affairs no longer an appropriate occupation. In the village of Latsu, the old have formed a Mani

association, convening three times a month to recite mantras, worship and make offerings. A major part of their activities involve accompanying the dying in their last moments, and making funeral preparations. The deep religiosity of their daily engagement with death infuses them with a passion for life that the filmmaker conveys in this film.

Current Status:    Documentary of intellectual culture
